Wallingford RFC
Harwell RFC

Wallingford 70 Harwell 7 (13.11.04)

Despite the local derby billing for this game, Wallingford overwhelmed Harwell scoring 12 tries in the process. Wallingford had the edge in most aspects of the game and finished most of their tries through their fast running backs. Centre Jonny Collett was virtually unstoppable and scored 4 tries before being replaced just after half-time, when the game was already won. Wallingford scored 2 tries in the first five minutes through Collett and wing Gavin Hull and looked like scoring at will.

The best move of the game saw Wallingford break from their own 22 and pass the ball through 10 pairs of hands to set up flanker Matt Chapman for a try. Henry Venners scored the other try in the half. After the break Harwell kept the ball in rolling mauls in order to starve Wallingford of possession but couldn’t drive far enough forward to gain much omentum. Wallingford’s second-half tries included 2 for fly-half Don Jenkins, 2 for centre Olli Henderson and 1 for right wing Nick

Risk.

Henderson added 5 conversions. Harwell scored a late consolation try when right wing Nick Brown intercepted a loose pass. Final score Wallingford 70 Harwell 7.
